Installing takes about five minutes. Please read what the utility does first, because it gives VN5 real access to your computer and network.

This is a remote asset management utility. It is not a one-time support tool. Once installed, it stays on this computer, reports on it, and may scan your network to find the devices on it, so VN5 can build an accurate inventory and carry out your IT audit and ongoing services.

What the utility does

The VN5 support utility is a remote asset management and monitoring agent. Once installed, it connects this computer to VN5's management platform and can do the following:

Remote access. VN5 technicians can view and control the computer for support, maintenance, and troubleshooting, with or without someone at the keyboard.
Monitoring and inventory. It reports hardware and software inventory, system health, performance, and security status.
Updates and maintenance. It can install operating system and application updates, install or remove software, and run scripts. Some updates restart the computer.
Network scanning and asset discovery. It may scan the local network to discover and inventory connected devices such as computers, printers, phones, and routers, including devices that belong to other people on that network. VN5 uses the results to assess your environment and support your audit. The scan traffic may be flagged by other security tools on the network.

VN5 uses these capabilities to deliver and secure the managed services you've contracted for, and accesses only what is needed to do so. The utility uses some processing power and bandwidth in the background.

Authorization and responsibility

By downloading and installing the utility, you confirm that:

You are authorized to install software on this computer and to approve scanning of the network it is connected to, for yourself or on behalf of your organization.
You authorize VN5 Managed IT LLC to remotely access, monitor, update, and scan as described above, including scanning your network to discover devices for inventory and audit purposes.
You will not install it on a computer or network you do not own or control.
Your service agreement with VN5 governs this installation and the services provided through it, including limits on VN5's liability. If this page and your agreement conflict, the agreement controls.

Open the fileFind it in your Downloads folder and double-click it. If Windows asks whether to allow changes, choose Yes.
Let it finishThe install runs on its own. Leave the computer on and connected to the internet until it completes.
Tell us you're doneEmail help@virtualnet5.com with your name and company. We'll confirm the computer is showing up on our side.
